The Year 8 Week is a traditional non-academic period of activities which takes place in the week following Common Entrance Examinations in June.
The children go away from both the home and school environments and take part in a structured week of activities at an Outdoor Activities Centre.
This is a marvellous week away from the rigours of school life when the children can relax a little and is a fitting reward for the hard work which they have put in during their time at Crosfields.
Qualified instructors lead the children through activities such as rock climbing, kayaking, sailing or surfing. Other activities include crab fishing and honing one’s map reading skills on a twelve kilometres hike.
Sleeping in dormitories, preparing their own packed lunches and cleaning up after themselves help the children to experience life in a close community away from home. This, and facing up to the challenges of a vigorous week, also help to develop each child’s confidence and self respect and prepare them for the move to Senior Schools later in the year.
A visit to a local historical landmark on the way home completes the week’s adventure and provides a little relaxation at the end of a busy and fulfilling week.
