Children can join the Nursery class in the September following their third birthday. The children in Nursery follow a carefully planned curriculum which enables each child to develop at his or her own pace. The children learn through play, exploration and discovery, with each day holding something new and exciting for them. Direct teaching is used to develop the children’s knowledge of sounds and numbers and other basic skills.
The Nursery enjoys a specially designed, enclosed outdoor area which offers space to run or ride around, jungle grasses to explore, a play tower to climb and benches to just sit on and watch the world.
The children quickly become familiar with the school site, eating lunch in the main dining hall, using the theatre for concerts and exploring the grounds. Interaction with our Reception classes makes the move to ‘big school’ the following September not nearly so daunting.
The Nursery runs from 8:15am until 4:15pm and there is a flexible morning drop until 9am. Late stay is available until 5:50pm at an additional cost. Full day and Morning sessions include lunch.
Parents are always welcome in the Nursery and there are a number of planned events for parents throughout the year. More details about the EYFS curriculum can be found on the Reception page of the website.
