Autumn Term

Topic: Seaside and Toys

The children will learn:

• Differences and similarities of seaside holidays in the present and in the past
• The journey that people took and the transport they used to go to the seaside 100 years ago
• Describe the characteristics of a favourite toy
• Look at old bears and new bears and identify similarities and differences

Spring Term

Topic: Homes

The children will learn to:

• Understand that everyone’s home is different, and discuss what a home is and who lives in their house
• Identify some key features common to all homes e.g. door, window,  roof
• Compare Victorian and Edwardian homes

Summer Term

Topic: Around the school; the local area

The children will learn:

• the significance of each line of an address
• that children travel to school in different ways
• about the local area of the school
• to move around the school site using a map
• to describe characteristics of the local area and express views on any changes which occur
