The children will learn how to:

  • Log on and off using their own username and password
  • Develop mouse control
  • Use the drag and drop facility
  • Use simple tools in a paint package
  • Become familiar with the keyboard
  • Save their work
  • Select text from a word bank
  • Select pictures from a bank
  • Print their work

Spring Term

Information around us

The children will learn to understand that:

  • information can be presented in a variety of forms
  • sounds and pictures carry information
  • information comes from a variety of sources
  • sound, text and pictures help us understand a story
  • a computer allows the user to make choices
  • sounds, texts and pictures can be used to convey information
  • conventions apply in presenting information

Labelling and classifying

The children will learn to understand that:

  • objects can be described using key words from a word bank
  • objects can be divided according to criteria

Summer Term

The children will learn to:

  • Collect and present data as pictograms
  • Use pictograms to answer simple questions
  • make a pictogram
  • collect information
  • make a chart
  • use ICT to classify information and to present findings in different ways
