Autumn Term
The children follow a programme which helps them interpret music and movement thoughtfully using BBC tapes including ‘Shake Hands’, ‘You Can Do It’ and ‘Commotion in the Ocean’.
Spring Term
The children follow a programme in which they learn to respond to music and words creatively.
This term we will focus on:
- communicating mood and character through facial expression, posture, gesture and a variety of actions
- promoting spiritual, cultural and social understanding through story and dance
- creating contrasting abstract dances using patterns and shapes inspired by the sun, rain and wind

Summer Term
The children follow a programme using BBC radio tapes. The programme is designed to help them become aware of a wide range of body movements. They experiment with interpreting these movements creatively to music and performing them.
The children will also learn traditional folk dances. This will include learning traditional dance steps and figures and using them with a partner.
