Work this term is geography based, and focuses on comparing different localities, starting to interpret maps, and understanding the impact of environmental change.

Barnaby Bear Visits The Seaside

  • Discuss holiday locations and say how they are different to home
  • Look at seaside locations on a map of the UK
  • Discuss what might be seen at the seaside and introduce seaside vocabulary
  • Learn about “staying safe” at the beach

Barnaby Bear Visits Dublin

  • Locate England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland on a UK map, and know the names of the capital cities
  • Discuss the differences between Reading and Dublin
  • Talk about aeroplanes and different methods of transport used to make different journeys
  • Follow a street map and identify features on the map

  • Locate France and UK on a European map
  • Discuss the differences between Reading and Roscoff
  • Talk about ferries and different methods of transport used to make different journeys
  • Know that the language and currency in France are different to the UK

  • Discuss the environmental impact of building a new road, debating the pros and cons
  • Justify own opinions and ideas
