Autumn Term

Number

  • All addition and subtraction facts for each number to at least 20
  • Simple patterns
  • Count, read, write and order whole numbers to at least 100
  • Subtraction and addition
  • Be able to double and halve a number
  • Coins and total values
  • Identify 2D shapes and describe their properties.
  • Recognise and draw lines of symmetry
  • Know the days of week, months of the year and the seasons

Problem solving

  • Solve addition and subtraction problems in real life.
  • Choose and use appropriate operations and efficient calculation strategies to solve problems and begin to be able to explain how the problem was solved

Homework

Homework will be sent home in a folder on a weekly basis.

It will be linked to the Number or Topic concept covered that week in school.

Spring Term

Number

  • To partition a number into at least Tens and Units
  • Be able to add and subtract using 2-digit numbers
  • Count on or back in multiples of tens and hundreds
  • Recognise the number 1 or 10 more or less than a 2-digit / 3-digit number
  • Know which numbers are odd and which are even
  • Know the ordinal numbers
  • Recognise ‘0’ as a set with no objects
  • Understand the concept of multiplication
  • Understand the concept of division
  • Begin to learn by heart the 2, 5, and 10 times tables

Topic

  • Measure weight using kilograms and grams
  • Be able to read the time on both analogue and digital clocks to at least the hour and half hour
  • 3-D shapes
  • Sort data by putting it in a graph
  • Recognise and construct a right angle

  • Solve addition, subtraction and multiplication problems in real life

Summer Term

Number

  • Estimate a number of objects
  • Count a large number of objects by grouping in 5s or 10s
  • Order correctly a set of given 2-digit numbers
  • Recognise 2-digit multiples of 2, 5 and 10
  • Begin to be able to recite the number names in order to 1000
  • Partition a number into hundreds, tens and units
  • Round a 2-digit number to its nearest 10
  • Understand the relationship between Multiplication and Division

Topic

  • Classify and describe 2D and 3D shapes
  • Measure capacity using a calibrated container and record measures in litres and millilitres
  • Recognise seconds, minutes, hours and days, weeks, months and years as standard measures of time and recognise the relationship between them
  • Be able to read the time on both analogue and digital clocks to the quarter hour
  • Sort data by listing it in a table
  • Be able to divide shapes and numbers into at least halves and quarters
