Junior Drama

A scene from 'Daniel - a hard act to follow' presented in December 2008

Drama plays an important role in the development of confidence and self expression of children in the Junior School.  Several lessons involve drama, particularly Literacy, P.S.H.E. and Circle Time.  The children participate enthusiastically and enjoy watching each other too.  As classes we often perform in front of the Pre-Prep in morning Collect.

We run a weekly drama hobby after school where we encourage the children to participate in a range of games and activities.  As a Junior School we stage two productions during the year.  The first is just before the end of the Autumn term and involves every member of Year 4 as actors and all of Year 3 as a chorus.  In the Summer term the roles are reversed and Year 3 take the lead.  These plays usually involve music and huge input from the children themselves.  Past performances have included ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’, ‘Puss in Boots’ and ‘Crosfields Christmas Extravaganza’.
