Music and Drama feature strongly in life at Crosfields with an ethos of including everybody. In 2005, we completed the conversion of a former gymnasium to a centre for the performing arts. This centre, known as the Skipwith Performing Arts Centre was opened on the 17th May 2005 by Frank Skipwith, a previous Headmaster at Crosfields. The centre is fully equipped with tiered seating, sophisticated sound system and state-of-the-art lighting rig. Annual productions are staged by the Pre-Prep department; Junior School and Year 5. The older children participate in an annual production each spring. Recent shows have included Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Oliver! Speech and Drama is a highly popular after school activity involving a large number of pupils from Year 5, many of whom win classes at local festivals.
The photograph above shows the completed tiered seating which greatly enhances the viewing experience for the audience. The arrangement provides seating for 129 persons.
