The Oaks completed the group of buildings around the senior quadrangle when it was opened by the Bishop of Reading in October 2007. It provides 1,828 square metres of space for six teaching classrooms, an art studio, a Design Technology workshop, a library and an ICT suite, which contains twenty student workstations. All classroom computers are linked to interactive whiteboards and use the latest teaching and interactive whiteboard software. Rooms and corridors are light and airy, and the building is attractively finished in natural cedar.
‘The Oaks’ name follows the theme of some of the existing buildings – ‘Chestnuts’ for Reception and ‘Acorns’ for Years 1-4 – which reflect the children’s growth and development as they move up through the school. There are also some wonderful oak trees among the 40+ acres of Crosfields grounds.
