At Crosfields, Year 5 is seen very much as a transitional year. The children have progressed from the Junior School to the Senior School and here they will begin to move about the school for some lessons with subject specialists. However they are still taught around half of the timetable by their form teacher. In those lessons the children will cover:
- English
- Science
- History
- Geography
- PSHE
- Art
In these subjects we follow National Curriculum guidelines, with the option to go into more depth in some topics.
Years 6 to 8
In years 6 to 8 all subjects are taught by specialists. Children work toward the Common Entrance Examination at thirteen. Children in the fast-track set have the opportunity to learn an additional language in year 7 and 8. The following pages (menu on the left) contain an introduction to academic subjects. We plan to develop these pages significantly and provide a resource that is useful to parents.
