The boys and girls are provided with a first class environment, with excellent facilities and a full range of media including painting, printing, mixed-media, textiles, animation and ceramic modelling.
The children have the opportunity to enjoy this subject in their lessons, lunchtime hobbies and after-school clubs, receiving instruction and encouragement from specialist teachers. Practising Artists regularly visit the school to give Day Workshops that complement the weekly programme and the annual Whole School Art Competition is a popular initiative. The pupils take great pride in their work and they derive immense satisfaction from seeing their projects displayed prominently throughout the school.
Encouraging personal expression is a primary aim, but children are also educated in the appreciation of Art. They are opened up to an awareness of the works of great Artists and Artistic Movements throughout history from all nations and cultures. They are also kept abreast of current fashions, developments and events in contemporary Art through workshops and gallery trips. This understanding, developed alongside the learning of techniques and disciplines, gives our children a thorough grounding that informs their work and enables them to interact confidently in the world of visual arts.
