Year 1 Forest School Day

Year 1 spent the day in Squirrel and Robin Wood on Wednesday. They had a fun filled day which included toasting bread on the fire, exploring the magic of potions and wands, making wooden owls, painting with mud and clay, and singing around the campfire. This inspiring day in the autumn sunshine was run by our Forest school teacher Mrs Mitchell. A day full of laughter, discovery, learning and play!

Wild Wisdom Challenge Year 5 and 6

Just a reminder about the challenge that is open to Year 5 and 6 to raise awareness of climate change and sustainability, to join the online Wild Wisdom Global Challenge 2022. This exciting challenge has been introduced in Geography lessons this week and can be accessed from home. An abundance of online resources are available to explore independently and learn more about key environmental issues. This year the focus is on Big Cat species and the integral role they play within their ecosystems. Using this knowledge, pupils will then take part in a series of quizzes, competing against schools all over the world.

The Challenge requires pupils to register on the Challenge webpage-open now!
Step 1 – Pupils create a login on the Challenge webpage itza.io by picking a username and creating a password. As your child is under the age of 13, they must give an email address for a parent or guardian in order to approve their account.
Step 2 – Pupils use their school code to register for the Challenge

● Login to itza.io with login details

● Enter 6-digit school code AAABLR

Celebrations Collect
Each Friday is our Celebrations Collect for Year 3 to Year 6. It is a lovely opportunity to celebrate all the wonderful things that children have achieved and cap off the week. We are keen to give parents the opportunity to join us should you wish. At this stage it is a trial. We hope to be able to have it as a weekly opportunity open to all year groups but will restrict it to the plan below for now. You do not need to book a slot. Simply drop off your child and make your way to the dining hall at 08:30. Please help yourself to tea and coffee which will be situated under the atrium (the covered area next to the dining hall) from 08:20.

Informal Concerts – General Information
Throughout the year we hold several informal concerts at Crosfields. These occasions are an ideal opportunity for new and experienced players to perform in an informal environment with a smaller audience and enjoy listening to a range of performances from other children. Mistakes will happen! This is a great environment to conquer nerves, learn how to recover from mistakes and practice dealing with the pressure of performing, with an understanding and encouraging audience.

If they are participating, the pupils may often be asked to perform to a teacher in school prior to the concert, to ensure they are confident with their piece and we will arrange a rehearsal for any pupils who need an accompanist on the day.

Please ensure your child brings their music to school on the day they are performing, including any accompaniments. Parents are warmly invited to watch their children perform and collect them directly from the theatre after the concert. The concerts last around 45 minutes.
