Our School

Forest Schools

Forest School is an outdoor learning programme that offers girls and boys a regular opportunity to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in woodland and natural environments.

Rich Learning Environment

Children benefit from no fewer than eleven dedicated Forest School sites that include a pond, woodland habitats and a purpose-built outdoor classroom. There is much evidence that outdoor learning can have huge advantages for children, and the Forest School areas provide a rich learning environment that children throughout the school can experience. Always suitably dressed for the occasion in waterproofs and wellies, pupils can explore and discover the natural world around them, taking in the key learning areas.

Tailored Lessons

Our Forest School Association-qualified Forest School leaders tailor each session in line with the children’s learning objectives. Using natural resources for inspiration, during a typical session children may find themselves bug hunting, stick whittling or making bird feeders, according to the season! Children also working with the elements, this may include fire lighting and den building using tools; all of which is undertaken in a safe manner appropriate to the age of the children.
