Our girls sport is going from strength to strength!
We are extremely proud to be providing fixtures for all girls in Years 3 to 8, that's a total of 13 teams. Each term we focus on traditional games such as Hockey, Netball and Rounders, all of which we play competitively against other Prep schools.
In addition, girls get the opportunity to 'have-a-go' in touch rugby, lacrosse, cricket, football, and underwater hockey, in our multi-sports event. Each term we invite coaches from Bradfield College and Wellington College to provide Master Class coaching sessions to the girls. These are highly successful and all the girls really enjoy the sessions exploring new skills and ideas.
As the girls move through the school we aim is to develop high quality performance whilst enabling each pupil to become independently active. The girls in the Senior School move away from being teacher dependent, for participation and organisation, to assuming responsibility for planning, carrying out and reviewing their own performance.
Here are a few words from Shina and Yasmyn, who are currently in year 7. ‘The hockey season is a great start to the year, with lots of encouragement from our teachers we improve every lesson. In the spring term we play netball, it is our favourite sport. In the summer term we play rounders and have just started cricket. It is fun and Crosfields provides us with a great opportunity to learn new sport. Every Wednesday we look forward to playing against different schools. In our opinion, Crosfields has the best sports anyone can learn.’
At Crosfields we encourage a competitive culture but respect our opposition. The girls work extremely hard in every sessions and we are now seeing the results on the sports field.
Good luck to all the teams and continued drive to perform to the best of your ability.
