Our Year 7 girls and boys enjoyed a fantastic trip to Westminster last Thursday.
A massive thank you to parents of Year 7 pupils after they allowed us to successfully leave school to join the London commuters at the crack of dawn.
After an efficient security check and deposit of bags, the pupils were split into two groups for two very enlightening tours of the Robing Room, both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the great Hall and some of the corridors in-between. The pupils later had a workshop on how to get ideas for a bill across to the most people was interesting; pupils discussed the pros and cons of using social media or the signings of petitions. Both methods had drawbacks. We were asked to consider the ice bucket challenge - whereas many remembered it or even took part in it, when it came to remembering what the cause was for, many drew a blank! Petitions may take longer, but all of the Crosfields party were amazed that your name could be put on a petition even when you were a child!
