Throughout the academic year, Crosfields pupils in Years 6, 7 and 8 were among 300,000 children that took part in the popular maths competition for schools, the Junior Maths Challenge. Run by the UK Mathematics Trust and completed over a number of months, this year Crosfields gained some of the highest results we have seen.
Twelve children achieved gold, two children achieved silver, and seventeen bronze certificates were awarded. Year 8 pupil Alex achieved the greatest score for Crosfields and as a result, he was invited to take part in the prestigious Junior Mathematics Olympiad together with 1,100 of the best mathematicians in the country. Having completed this, Alex was then placed amongst the 250 highest achievers in the country and received a Distinction certificate, which is an amazing achievement!
Every year, the rest of the highest scorers are invited to take part in a second and a final round of the Junior Kangaroo Challenge. Seven Crosfields pupils took part in this, and two of those children are now placed in the top 25% best mathematicians and were awarded with Merit Certificates. Congratulations to all our young mathematicians on these outstanding results!
