Pupils and staff at Crosfields School took on a huge challenge recently of travelling the distance from London to Cairo by walking, running and cycling, and what a performance they put in!
Organised by the Children's Challenge, 26 schools of varying sizes entered the challenge and had one week to complete the distance of 3,509km. Between them all they covered a staggering 124,837km during the course of the week, but no school got close to the distance covered by Team Crosfields. The event organisers commented that, "No single school contributed more than Crosfields School that travelled an incredible 14,023km. This is greater than the distance from the North Pole to the South Pole, from just one school, in just one week. Crosfields was not the biggest school that took part but virtually no one else got close, at any point, to the distance the school travelled every day."
Director of Sport, Mr. Gareth Edwards passed on his congratulation and commented, "Well done and many thanks to all the children, parents and families for embracing the challenge. The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team."
