Since the start of the spring term in January, incredible progress has been made on the construction of the new Crosfields Senior School building.
Despite the challenges of Brexit and Covid, the deliveries of the cross laminated timber (CLT) arrived from Austria on schedule, with the final piece being placed recently. This means that the impressive main structure is now complete and the crane that was used to put each piece of CLT in position has left the site. Brickwork has also commenced and the roof is set to be completed soon.
Brand-new and exciting time-lapse footage on the build can be viewed by clicking on the image, below. It shows the back half of the building being constructed with the CLT, as well as the windows being fitted and the beginnings of work on large glass panels. Classrooms have been installed above the café space, with three more downstairs. Each classroom will provide a light, airy space for teaching with underfloor heating, mechanical ventilation, wi-fi and a teaching wall with screen and storage for resources.
