Pupils in Year 3 were lucky enough to be able to participate in a virtual history workshop hosted by the Drama Hut recently.
Based on their topic of the Romans, the children were confronted by none other than Queen Boudicca, the legendary Iceni warrior-queen. Boudicca taught the children lots about the Romans, what they had brought to Britain during their invasion, how the invasion had affected the lives of the Romans involved and the Britons that had been invaded! The children, armed with their Roman shields or ‘scutum’ to give them their Latin name, learnt about and performed Roman military formations, and Mr. Keepax, Crosfields very own ‘Roman General’, even marched the children out of school using the Latin words that we had learnt during the day.
All in all a great day was had by everyone, and so much of this was down to the enthusiasm and knowledge of Lillie (Boudicca) from the Drama Hut. This enthusiasm was mirrored by the children and it really was a fantastic end to a challenging term.
