A heathy body and an active mind.
Crosfields children swim every week, with lessons taking place in our own 25 metre pool, which has an adjustable floor to promote water confidence. Music is central to providing a soundtrack to this and every stage and from Year 2 individual tuition is available.
Our healthy food provision, cooked daily by our wonderful catering team from Thomas Franks, feeds the brain and the body, ensuring that Crosfields children are ready for whatever is next.
Reception 
Shaping future development
Welcome to Chestnuts, our dedicated Reception setting, the next step in your child’s growth and development.
Children join us here, to begin the next stage of their Crosfields educational adventure, from our Nursery, from the local community and from far beyond. Our children come from around the world and we embrace different cultural influences and diversity.
Years 1 & 2 Building on foundations
Jumping a little further, our Year 1 and 2 children move to Acorns and experience our specially designed curriculum with the introduction of a more structured programme.
Years 1 and 2 build on the core skills developed in Reception. At Crosfields we provide the tools, guidance and encouragement to facilitate your child’s academic and social growth and help them to begin to gain a love of independent learning, such as reading for pleasure.

We encourage our Year 1 and 2 children to work and play together, learning the importance of teamwork and promoting peer interaction.
At Crosfields children have the opportunity to put their learning into real world context. Educational excursions include day trips and in Year 2 children take part in a trip which includes an overnight stay, giving them the chance to put their newfound independence into practice, building confidence in a secure environment. In 2022, Year 2 children travelled to PGL Liddington in Wiltshire and similar trips are planned for 2023. All this is included in our fees.
Exploring and growing
We promote team activities which help children to interact, learning to respect each other and form strong and lasting friendships.
Playing their part in whole school fundraising, and events such as World Book Day, gives Crosfields children a sense of both achievement and community. Building on their language skills, our French Teacher provides regular classes.
We are a Forest School – In Pre-Prep children continue to enjoy regular Forest School sessions, connecting with nature and making the most of our 40-acre site, dedicated outdoor classrooms, pond and woodland habitats.
