Sport
At Crosfields, our Junior pupils from Year 3 to Year 6 benefit from an enriching sports programme that promotes not only physical fitness but also team spirit and healthy competition. In Year 3, pupils participate in weekly sports fixtures against other schools in a variety of sports including Football, Hockey, Rugby, Netball, and Cricket. These matches are scheduled on specific afternoons for each year group, with swimming competitions also introduced from Year 3.Â
Our aim is to include every pupil, fostering an inclusive environment where selection for more competitive teams is based on merit, assessed through progress, effort, and performance. We warmly invite parents to attend and support both home and away matches.Â
During these formative years, our curriculum ensures pupils receive a well-rounded physical education. Each week includes a one-hour PE lesson, a swimming session, and extended games lessons leading up to a match afternoon against other schools. From Year 5, the games lessons increase to two 60-minute sessions per week, enhancing skill development and match preparation. This structured approach allows for comprehensive engagement with sports, fostering not only physical development but also camaraderie and a sense of achievement among pupils.
In addition to our core sports offerings, pupils have limited yet valuable opportunities to engage in cross-country, basketball, badminton, tennis, and athletics, expanding their experience and skills in a broader range of sports. This diverse sports programme is designed to encourage active participation, promote healthy lifestyles, and kindle a positive competitive spirit amongst our pupils, laying the foundations for lifelong fitness and teamwork values.
