Life at Crosfields menu

Our school offers phenomenal facilities for all our children to enjoy

The Crosfields Sports Centre houses:

25 metre swimming pool – complete with a movable floor to maximise participation of every age group and promote water confidence. A Sports Hall, where pupils play: basketball, netball, badminton and a whole host of other sports. Dance and (our new) Strength and Conditioning Studio – to support our focus on Wellbeing.

Outside across our 40 acre site children can enjoy:

  • All-weather artificial pitches – so the British weather doesn’t stop play for our hockey and netball matches
  • Plenty of other pitches for rugby and other sports
  • A Cricket Pitch, with its own Pavillion

Reaching out to the community, we offer the opportunity for local teams to use our facilities. Tilehurst Swimming Club train here. Holiday clubs run here.

Weekly Sports Fixtures

Recognising the benefits of a sport for all…

Sport is played here as an essential part of the curriculum promoting the importance of physical wellbeing.

We have weekly sports fixtures at both a local and national level, allowing all children to participate and represent the school. Our reputation precedes us and at Crosfields we are proud of the successes of our teams and celebrate achievements at the individual level. Last year we were proud winners of the Girls U13’s championship in cricket.

Scholarship

Swimming with the best

Our swimming teams, in particular, are recognised at a national level.

Amongst our alumni we have swimmers who have qualified for the Olympic and Commonwealth trials.

Pupils have gone on to be offered full scholarships for swimming at top boarding schools such as, Milfield, along with extending their skills to represent Great Britain in rowing and kayaking.

We believe that every child should know how to swim, and children are taught weekly from Nursery. We have a Level 3 qualified Performance Coach who works with Seniors to hone their skills and help them to perform to a highly competitive level.

25m Swimming Pool

Taking inspiration – sporting stars

We often welcome guest speakers from athletes who have reached the top in their field. Leaders in their field who have visited Crosfields include an England Hockey Captain, who motivated pupils by demonstrating the benefits of dedication and teamwork. The Paralympic Gold Medalist swimmer Ellie Simmonds opened our Sports Centre.

Co-educational in all areas

Co-education is not just about classroom demographics but runs through the culture of our school. Demonstrating this commitment, we have adapted our cricket lessons to be co-educational and sent mixed teams to compete. Crosfields sports teams represent the school as a whole and we encourage both boys and girls to participate in all sport and everyone has the opportunity to compete.

Take Part – Hire our facilities

We are lucky to have exceptional facilities on site, which, during the holidays, are available for external hire. To learn more please send an enquiry to our dedicated team.

Sport at Crosfields School gives all pupils the opportunity to learn a wide range of techniques, experience competition and develop critical life skills such as team work and resilience.
