Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

At Crosfields School, we are committed to creating an environment where every individual is valued, respected and able to thrive. Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) are central to the way we support our pupils, staff, volunteers, governors, contractors, parents and the wider community. Our diverse school community is one of our greatest strengths, shaping a culture that is outward-looking, inclusive and grounded in respect. We champion individuality while nurturing a strong sense of belonging, ensuring every pupil feels seen, supported and celebrated.

Teaching the Equality Code

All pupils at Crosfields learn our “equality code”, which helps them understand the nine protected characteristics and what it means to treat others with dignity and respect. This education empowers pupils to recognise and challenge discriminatory behaviour or language confidently and appropriately. By teaching the foundations of equity from an early age, we help pupils develop empathy, confidence and the skills to contribute positively to a diverse world. These lessons sit at the heart of our commitment to preparing pupils for the opportunities, and responsibilities, of modern life.

A diverse, trained and inclusive community

Our dedication to EDIB extends beyond the classroom. Staff EDIB Champions ensure all colleagues receive relevant training, enabling them to model and uphold inclusive practice across school life. With 55 languages spoken across our community, Crosfields is enriched by a vibrant mix of cultures, perspectives and backgrounds. This diversity shapes a school experience that is joyful, authentic and outward-looking, helping every pupil feel they belong. It reflects our belief that diversity is a strength, and a superpower, that broadens horizons and opens opportunities for all.
