Pre-Prep School Day | Crosfields School

Every day at Crosfields is carefully shaped to balance structure, creativity and joyful exploration. The school day runs from 08:15 to 15:15, with wraparound care available from breakfast club through to after-school provision, ending at 17:50, giving families flexibility and reassurance.

A warm and calm start

Children begin each day with a gentle, reassuring welcome from their teacher and teaching assistant, helping them settle quickly into the rhythm of school life. This simple but meaningful routine strengthens the bond between home and school, giving parents confidence that their child is known and cared for. Our open-door policy invites families to speak directly with staff at drop-off and collection, building positive relationships and supporting open communication that benefits every child.

Learning that inspires

Our timetable brings together daily maths, phonics and English with a broad variety of curriculum subjects designed to spark curiosity and build strong foundations. All learning follows the National Curriculum while being enriched through creative teaching approaches that help children stay motivated and engaged. With opportunities to explore the Pre-Prep library and book corners in each classroom, pupils develop early reading confidence and a genuine love of books, nurturing both essential skills and lifelong enthusiasm for learning.

Play at the heart of the day

Play is an essential part of every child’s experience in Pre-Prep. With two outdoor playtimes each day, children have regular opportunities to explore our spacious, well equipped grounds. From climbing frames and mud kitchens to playhouses, a willow tunnel and a mini theatre, these environments encourage imaginative thinking, physical development and collaborative play. Through these playful experiences, children learn to take risks, solve problems and build strong friendships, supporting their emotional and social growth in meaningful ways.

Healthy meals and shared moments

Lunchtimes are a joyful part of the school day, with freshly prepared meals served in our welcoming dining room. Children enjoy nutritious dishes that often feature themed menus celebrating global cultures, helping them develop healthy eating habits and an interest in the wider world. A mid-morning snack keeps them fuelled for active learning and play, while shared mealtimes provide valuable opportunities for conversation, connection and the development of positive social skills.
