At Crosfields, every pupil is supported as they take the next steps in their educational journey. We are proud that 100% of pupils have achieved the grades required for their first-choice future school. With over 35 destination schools across just two Year 11 cohorts, it’s clear that there is no single pathway; instead, we prioritise the right individual route for every learner. Our all-through approach ensures guidance begins early and continues throughout their time with us, with structured support, leadership development and tailored preparation for the exciting opportunities ahead.
Careers Education at Crosfields
We are passionate about equipping pupils with the knowledge, confidence and skills to navigate their future careers. Careers education is embedded from Juniors to Seniors, ensuring pupils explore a wide range of possibilities. Guest speakers, workplace visits and curriculum-linked discussions create meaningful insight into the world of work. From Year 1 to Year 11, careers themes are woven into the PSHE curriculum, helping pupils develop aspirations early. By the time they reach Seniors, pupils benefit from weekly careers sessions, themed awareness weeks and opportunities to connect learning with real-world pathways.
Careers in the Juniors
Our careers programme begins in Juniors, where curiosity is encouraged through engaging, age-appropriate experiences. Professionals from a variety of industries visit the school to share their stories, offering pupils an exciting first look at the world of work. Carefully planned educational trips to local workplaces broaden their understanding further, inspiring children to imagine what their own futures might hold. These early encounters spark ambition and help pupils recognise that their interests, talents and questions all play a role in shaping who they may become.
Careers in Seniors
In Seniors, careers guidance becomes increasingly tailored and practical. Weekly “Focus on Careers” sessions help pupils explore how curriculum subjects relate to future opportunities, while national awareness events such as Green Careers Week deepen their understanding of emerging industries. As they progress through each year group, pupils build a clearer picture of their strengths, motivations and ambitions. This structured, age-appropriate programme ensures that when pupils reach their GCSE years, they feel confident making decisions about subject choices, pathways and future goals.
Year-by-Year Pathways
Our careers journey builds progressively:
- Year 7: Pupils complete a 20-lesson, UCL-accredited Youth Entrepreneurship Agency course, developing key skills such as problem-solving and creative thinking.
- Year 9: Pupils begin using the Unifrog platform and complete the Aspirations questionnaire to guide GCSE options.
- Year 10: Psychometric assessments and a vibrant Careers Week offer valuable insights into suitable pathways, culminating in a Sixth Form Information Evening.
- Year 11: Pupils receive intensive support with applications, interviews and transition plans. The year concludes with our “Bridge to Sixth” programme, designed to strengthen essential skills for life beyond GCSEs.
Celebrating Success
Our pupils continue to excel beyond Crosfields. Former School Captain, Febe Fisher, progressed to her chosen Sixth Form and became Head of College after only one year, a testament to the strong leadership development at our school. Many pupils secure scholarships in academics, arts and sport, and others successfully gain places at local Grammar Schools.
We are proud of standout achievements such as Ameya Dhanjal, who won the ISA Whitbread Memorial Prize in 2024 for exceptional academic outcomes and service to her community. These successes highlight the values, ambition and resilience nurtured at Crosfields.
