Mrs Caroline Townshend

- Head
Qualification: BSc, Psychology (University of Southampton)

Caroline grew up in California before moving to England to study GCSEs and A-Levels. She read Psychology at the University of Southampton, completing her PGCE at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

Mr Daniel Stent

- Senior Deputy Head
Qualification: MA, Education (University of Middlesex); MA, Theatre Studies (University of Surrey); BA, Music Technology (London College of Music & Media)

Dan began his teaching career as a music and drama teacher at Ruislip High School, and quickly found his passion for pastoral care. He became a Head of Year and then moved into senior leadership positions. In September 2020, Dan was appointed as Vice Principal at Fullbrook School.

Mrs Emma Robson

- Head of Juniors
Qualification: BA (Hons) QTS (Roehampton)

Coming from a family of teachers, Emma’s passion and experience of teaching Juniors spans over two decades. Reading Theology with QTS at the University of Surrey, Roehampton, Emma started her career teaching Years 3 – 6 and progressed to leadership roles such as Academic Lead, Key Stage Pastoral Lead, Assistant Head Teaching and Learning and Prep Deputy Head. Emma has enjoyed the privilege of working in various schools in Hampshire, Surrey, Suffolk, Greater Manchester and Lancashire, including two all-through 4 – 18 independent schools, joining Crosfields with considerable breadth of academic and pastoral expertise. She has a particular interest in curriculum design to facilitate each child’s individual progression of both knowledge and 21st century skills.

Mrs Janey McDowell

- Head of Pre-Prep
Qualification: BScHons (Reading), PGCE (Cantab)

Janey was born in Zimbabwe and later lived and was educated in Sudan, Iran and South Africa. She gained a BSc (Hons) in Psychology/Zoology, followed by a PGCE (Biology) from King’s College, Cambridge. After teaching A Level Biology for several years, she realised that children’s development interested her more than the subject. She gradually moved down the age range, eventually teaching a Nursery class at Rupert House School in Henley for 12 years. When Crosfields became co‑educational, Janey joined as a Reception teacher, before being appointed Head of Pre‑Prep in 2008. Bringing up four children (three daughters and a son who attended Crosfields) has given Janey a strong insight into parents’ concerns and expectations.

Mrs Chan Odedra

- Director of Compliance & Operations and Clerk to Governors
Qualification: LLB Hons Law (Birmingham) PGDip Legal Practice (Leicester)

Chan is a qualified solicitor with over 15 years of experience in criminal law and legal practice management, having founded and led a successful criminal law practice.  Chan joined Crosfields in 2019, transitioning her passion for operational and regulatory compliance to the education sector. At Crosfields, her initial focus was on compliance and governance; however, her remit expanded to elements of HR, Finance, Estates, Health & Safety, and leadership. In her current role, Chan is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the school. She is also one of Crosfields’ EDIB (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging) Champions, helping to foster a more inclusive and supportive school community. Mr Gareth Edwards

- Deputy Head Co-Curricular & Operations
Qualification: BEd (Hons) Physical Education & Mathematics (Bristol)

Gareth trained to be a teacher of PE and Maths at the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham, and began his teaching at Waingels College, Woodley. He joined Crosfields School as a PE teacher in 1998 and became Director of Sport in 2003. Since joining the school, Gareth has seen Crosfields change from a boys school to co-ed and more recently from a prep school to an all-though school. Outside of school Gareth played Minor Counties Cricket for Berkshire in the late 90’s and now enjoys playing Golf as often as possible and playing the Guitar.

Mr James Bown

- Deputy Head - Academic (Seniors)
Qualification: BSc Keele, PGCE Oxford, QTS

Mr James Bown joins Crosfields from Cokethorpe School and brings with him over 20 years of experience in various educational roles.  James completed his undergraduate degree in Geography and Geology before undertaking his PGCE in Geography at Oxford University. He has held several positions, including Senior Deputy Head, Housemaster and Head of Sixth Form. His dedication to the wider life of the school is evident through his involvement in coaching sports, leading expeditions, and hosting pupil forums and clubs.

Mrs Siobhan McClure

- Director of Digital Strategy
Qualification: BSc(Hons) (Salford), QTS, Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE)

Following a career in industry as an analyst programmer, Siobhán trained as a teacher of Secondary Computer Science, gaining QTS in 2015. Siobhán has taught in a variety of settings in Berkshire and Hampshire, most recently as Head of Computer Science and Digital Learning at Bedales School. Siobhán is passionate about EdTech and keen to inspire all children to become confident digital creators, equipped with the necessary skills required for navigating their digital futures. Siobhán enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and two dogs, Hudson and Boris!
