Introducing the Open Table!

This term, Crosfields has launched the Open Table, a pupil led initiative designed to foster kindness, inclusion and connection across the school community.

Open to pupils in Years 7–11, the table offers a welcoming space for those who may feel unsure where to sit at lunchtime, are keen to meet new people, or simply want a friendly place to spend their break. The Open Table was officially launched by Woody, the school’s much-loved therapy dog. Each week, Year 10 Prefects and pupil volunteers – the ‘Kindness Crew’ – host the table, offering a warm welcome and helping to create a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere.

The project brings together contributions from pupils across the school. Year 9 pupils designed and created the 3D Open Table sign with support from Mrs Pemberton and Mrs Harris, while Dylan (Year 9) produced the artwork for the launch cupcakes.

The project will continue to evolve, with pupils adding their own messages and creative touches to the tablecloth over time, ensuring the space reflects the ideas and individuality of the whole community.

Mrs Clare McIntyre, who helped get the project off the ground, said: “Behind the Open Table is a simple message, nobody should feel alone at lunchtime, and sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference.”

Crosfields is incredibly proud of the pupils who have brought the Open Table to life, creating a space where friendships are formed and everyone feels they belong.
